The ABAE recently carried out an extensive audit of formal and informal university and school links with amateur boxing clubs. The survey revealed that there were 300-350 current associations of school-club links, and this is growing.
Currently, only those who are registered on the ABAE database (boxers, coaches, clubs and officials) are covered by ABAE insurance. This has historically been the case. Therefore other members of the club are not covered for training and sparring etc.
In order to offer cover for all involved, even recreational boxers need to register as 'Associate Members' to ensure that they, the club concerned, the coaches and volunteers are insured for ALL boxing activities, under this jurisdiction.
Important
Any university, school, individual member or volunteer not registered and not on the ABAE database is NOT COVERED under the ABAE insurance or policy.
Do not fail to ensure the process is adapted from Ocober 2007, as individuals will be liable, and no participant is covered by the ABAE to spar or train until this has been implimented.
